The little things

Trying to make jam today, while trying to relax, while trying to spend time with my two adorable children who had oodles and oodles of energy and too much rain outside for them to play in the backyard, there were a couple of standout items that I wanted to record.

First, Quentin. He kept attacking me - with hugs. He's been doing this a lot lately. Today it was plenty of "Mom, there's just one more thing (I want to do, I want to give you) before (whatever he was off to do) - a hug, and a kiss." Wonderful for me! I picked him up to hug him once, and asked him to stir the jam because he happened to be at the right height, my hands were full, and the jam needed stirring. He thanked me three or four times for letting him stir the jam. While watching the Olympics, I pointed out that it was raining here AND in China. Rather hard in both places. That simple thing amazed him. Okay, I thought it was neat too.

Jade. Sweet little girl that she is. Almost fully potty-trained! Yesterday she had a wet diaper before we could get ready to go out for the day. Today, none. She even scooted herself upstairs to poo. Yay! She announced this evening after bathtime that she was going to rescue everyone in the world. She didn't say from what or how, but she repeatedly insisted she was going to do it. No wonder. She repeated many times today that she's the smartest person in the whole wide word. (Nope, she wouldn't accept it was the world, only the word. Although she changed it to something else for a bit, but I forget what that was...I'm not the smartest person, you know.) She ate two full cobs of corn tonight too. It's a couple days old, so it wasn't even good. Both the kids devoured their first half cob and grabbed a second, but after bath, Jade grabbed a third, and then asked to eat Quentin's because it was all that was left. I noticed today that she was sticking her tongue out in the photo from the aquarium - I thought it was just a smirk. I asked her about it, and she said that she was sticking her tongue out, and then proceeded to do it to me for the next few minutes.

Off tomorrow during the day to go visit the surgeon who looked at my finger when I broke it. It's not straight, and it still won't bend fully. They called today asking for my WCB number. I don't remember it. Do you?
