Coming to a close

The year, not the blog. Not that you'd notice a difference with how little it gets updated! :) (Sorry for no pictures right now, but I'm on the laptop.)

It's been a good year. I got my continuing, so no more random paycheques, yay! Next year, I should have my own classroom from the beginning. Yay! Quentin is learning how to read. Yay! He said that he'd rather watch tv, or play on the computer, but if he can't do those, reading is a good thing to replace them. He discovered that he loves to hip hop dance and is willing to do so in front of people. Yay! Tyler got put back as floor manager for a bit, but he got them to put him back in maintenance. Yay! Jade is cute and adorable as always. She's turning out to be quite the little mathematician. Yay! She adds and subtracts faster than her brother. (Don't tell Quentin.)

It's been a crappy, crappy year. Lots of stress trying to get the continuing, then battling payroll yet again on how much they should be paying me. Jade got an infected front tooth from bumping it too many times. It had to get pulled. Which, by the way, she's quite happy with. She's thrilled she's not in constant pain anymore, and she thinks she's much cuter without it! She also, poor girl, managed to scoop up some flesh-eating bacteria in the water around Tofino this summer. Be aware that it's around if you go there in the summer, and watch out if you get a rash appearing anywhere! It's mild, but your scars won't go away as well as Jade's did. I had a super-stress filled summer school. I was teaching two classes instead of one, and there were a large number of issues with the students lives that affected a lot of us. And, well, cheating was rampant and that always annoys me. We decided to finally get our roof fixed and sealed, and ended up having to paint the house as a result. I picked up H1N1 in the fall, and passed it onto my children. My second placement for the school year has been filled with a ton of mess from the last teacher's assignments. I broke my tailbone. And Tyler, well, he's had to take care of us and deal with all the fallout from everything. And that's not to mention health and other issues with family members.

Next year. That should be good, right? Everyone will get better. Tyler starts his third year at school, finally, and is hoping to challenge the fourth. Then I get to look to doing my masters. (So excited!) Jade starts Kindergarten, so she'll be in the same daycare as Quentin which is right in their school. I get my own classes, somewhere, where-ever, teaching whatever. Stability. My best friend from my young years is back in my life, and getting married! I get to go celebrate with them next month. My first time ever away from my babes. :( I'm sure they'll do much better than I will about it. We've got a real vacation planned. Not bought or reserved, but planned. Getting away from everyone and everything. Yay!

So, happy new year to you all. I hope that you take some happy memories from this one, and move on to big wonderful happy things in the new year. Much love to all from all of us.

Happy New Year to you all! Do you have an idea which masters program you are interested in? I want to do my masters in the next couple of years too. Maybe we should take the same one and copy each others homework :)
