Happy Halloween!

We had 24 visitors this year...our smallest number yet! I know there was a year we had only 28 at the house, but 24 is a new low. We even were giving out handfuls of candy, play-doh (little cans of it), and plastic toys (cheap halloween skeletons, bugs, etc...80 for two dollars).

Both children have head colds, so that wasn't much fun. We went to the mall for a quick 20 minutes of trick-or-treating after getting home from daycare. They only had it from 4 to 5, and we didn't get home until 4:30, but we got a nice little batch anyways. When children aren't allowed more than one piece of candy/chocolate a day, they don't really need to gather too much. Jade stayed home and handed out candy with Mommy while Daddy and Quentin went door-knocking.

The pirate is from a cool little pirate party we went to on Sunday. People from our music class invited us. I even managed to poison Daddy with an eclair. It was important as he was from a different pirate ship than I was.

Hope your candy day was fun!

Happy Birthday Miss Jade E.!

Pictures from her last day a zero-year old girl. Now she's one. The way things seem to go, I'm sure next week she'll be 20. She wasn't feeling well today, not that you can tell from these pics. I hope she's feeling better for her birthday, but if 20 minutes ago is any sign she won't be in top form. Losing the contents of ones tummy is not the way for a child to spend their birthday.

Jade is growing up so quickly. Took her first step and a half unassisted. Obviously knows how to pose for a camera. Knows how to let people know what she wants without being rude or noisy, and won't let other people take away what she believes to be hers. Has a number of words, between eight and ten I think (not that everyone can understand them, but I can - ball, book, mom, dad, that, duck, her version of button for her belly button, a word of her own for Quentin, and...) She dances to music she likes and can keep the beat to a song. She enjoys books. Jade LOVES splashing her hands in the water. She likes going swimming, to gymnastics and music class, plus daycare where she gets to play with other children and gets all the attention. She can blow kisses, can whistle a little bit, and sings while she walks (holding hands). Her favourite thing to do is to climb, it doesn't matter if it's stairs, a chair, the couch, or a stool to get to the bathroom sink. And if she isn't allowed on the one set of stairs, she'll just move to the other ones.

Happy Birthday Jade. May you continue your life with the same amount of smiles, intelligence, love and charm that your days are filled with now.
