Scissors fun

Well, it finally happened. Last night, while my dad was visiting, Quentin took his sister's new fake doctor scissors and pretended to cut a chunk of his hair. I warned him, for the umpteenth time, that he should never cut his hair, to let me know if he thinks it's getting too long and wants it cut, etc. etc. I thought that was good enough because, well, it always has been for the last five and a half years.

However.

As soon as she saw me this afternoon, the daycare supervisor asked me if I noticed, then asked Quentin if he was going to tell me, or if she was. In EXACTLY the same spot as last night, about 3-4 cm (1 1/2 inches for you non-metrics) back from his hairline, is this weird little triangle-shaped almost bald looking spot. (His hair is really still pretty baby fine, so short hair looks almost bald.) There had been a Teacher-On-Call in his class today, and she was apparently incredibly upset by it happening. Yeah, if I was the TOC in a room where a kid cut his hair, I'd be afraid of getting in trouble. Poor woman. I know it wasn't her lack of supervision, I know that it was all Quentin doing it.

Unfortunately for the TOC, Quentin said that the other kids started doing it too. Okay, first he said the other kids were doing it, but when I asked him why he would do it just because the others were, he clarified. AFTER he did it, others started cutting their hair too. Again, poor woman. I can just imagine her thinking how her job prospects weren't looking good after helping one group of students to see another group of Kindergartners cutting their hair - especially if there are some parents who don't get that there are just some things kids do. He's under strict orders to apologize if she's there again tomorrow.

While I was giving him a hair cut to even out his hair, I asked him who he was trying to make laugh. Nope. That wasn't it. I asked him who he was trying to impress. Yep. That was it. Two girls. *sigh* Like that bodes well for the future.

His self-inflicted hair cut didn't look awful, just a little strange. Nothing to take a pic of. Nothing as bad as that time I cut my sister's bangs incredibly short and crooked (and then we both vehemently denied I'd done anything). He does have a 1/2 buzz cut now though. I'll take a pic of that soon.
